John sleeps with an old acoustic guitar next to his bed. Tonight he picked it up and started singing:
Caroline, Caroline
Caroline, Caroline
Caroline, Caroline
In a pan.
Miss Carolyn is one of his teachers*. There is a girl in his class named Caroline.
He told us that he was singing about his friend Caroline.
He also said that she is cute.
She is a tiny little thing, which is saying something considering John and Eleanor barely weigh 25 pounds. She has dark curls and always says goodbye to us when we leave.
*Miss Michelle is their other teacher. John calls her Miss Chelle.

Love it.
It's reminiscent of "Corina, Corina" by Dylan. He's on his way. But the post-structuralism of the lyrical twist at the end (a pure decentering of the author) is just genius.
he's so cute
